Dramatic SFB: The Mad Galactic War Campaign

Matt has graciously...or foolishly...decided to allow me to run a special
campaign.

This will be for players who will be checking their Email daily. Playing as
quickly as possible and making this flow. If you cannot fly your battles
have someone do it. Try to have a fill in Captain on standby.

The game is up for suggestion on start date. But understand this. It will
be a fairly short Campaign. 5 Years. 1 turn per year. And the EPs will not
be high. Borders will be 3 border races.

It will involve the major races of the Federation Klingon area.1 player per
race. So first come first serve. Starting fleet BPV will be 500. 100 per
turn auto produced. No players will join after launch though a replacement
player could take over for you if needed. So standby players are ok. So you
get your starting fleet. Then when the turn cycles...you get 100. Thats it.
Next turn you get what ever you won from scenarios + 100. This opening set
up does not count as one of the 5 turns. So start year will be one year
after this turn.

Here is the basic premise. The Universe has a plague. It is like when Kirk
got split. His nice side is gone. All you have left is fear, anger,
jealousy and desire to kill everyone you meet. No treaties of any kind are
allowed. All scenarios will be fought...only pre disengagement allowed is
if both players cannot reach each other and if the other turns and runs. So
if you send a small force to sit at speed 5 somewhere in the middle of the
map and an overwhelming force arrives....you will probably try and save
what you can. Or you can charge and die guns blazing.

Size class 2 ships are not allowed. Your ship yards need to focus on
building ships you can make quickly.  Remember rule...S8....which covers
what ships can be used and how...Out the window it goes. You want to bring
a fleet of all CCs...go for it. All Carriers no escorts...works great. No
ship can handle the command rating required? Who cares...its every captain
for himself. They get on coms...Hey Bob...lets all shoot the Cruiser...and
away they go. The standard fleet rules are failing. You want the other
races dead. Simple.

Retreat is allowed at any time...if you can pull it off. Negotiated
retreats are allowed only if you surrender at least one ship. None of
this..."I am leaving is that ok???? Sure cya....stuff." You hate everyone
in the Universe. No one gets a free ride. You expect to have ships killed.
Because you DO NOT CARE. Your only real desire is to kill the enemy...and
everyone is the enemy. Now on the other side of the coin...you realize that
if trying to kill them is pure suicide. Self preservation and fear can
easily make you run to save ships so you can come back and be avenged. But
as mentioned...you can run from a fleet on the other edge. You cannot just
disengage from a much faster fleet you cannot outrun. So choose your
placement of ships wisely. You want to gather EPs or hurt your enemies not
defend every clump of dirt in space.

No ship repairs between scenarios allowed except you can repair all
shields. You can repair double your Damage control. That is all. Fighters
that die are dead. Only way to replace them is by using your Damage
control. 1 DC point per fighter. So you have 4 DC. You can repair 8
internal boxes. If you bring a fighter back that will also repair the
fighter box if it was destroyed. Shuttles are auto available again. This is
caused by the plague. The need to kill far outweighs the need to have a
pretty fixed up ship. So you push for what ever repairs can be quickly.
While you can use Labs and Damage control to do repairs. Just remember...DC
points are now lost. You could buy a repair ship. Between scenarios it can
repair one internal per repair box. But as in Star Ship Troopers, every one
fights. So it has to be assigned to a scenario. It doesn't have to fight.
But it is there.

Not sure if this will work. It requires all players to keep track of all
damage to their ships. So a bit more book keeping is involved than most
people are used to. If the consensus is, this is too much trouble we can
dump it. I have it in there as a way to enhance the kill everything idea
and worry about how to pay for it later. Or we can just use the standard if
it aint Crippled its fixed. Also crippled ships may be needed in a fight as
we go along.

Any Scenario involving Free Traders...they are all limited to WS 0 at the
start. Their job is hauling not fighting.It costs Money to stay at a higher
WS. They also have no COs. Again all space is needed for cargo that pays.
If you have an Orion doppleganger in the mix...he can use COs and is at
what ever WS the combat fleet is at.

The hope is this will be a very fast set up followed by fast play. 2 Day
Max on assigning ships and building them. then a week to play the scenarios
out. If this sounds like something people want to play....great! I will run
it with just a couple players if need be. If we run with 5 players or less
I am also thinking about have an Orion Pirate Fleet show up at times.
Various BPV Never a lot. Whose purpose is to kill survivors and loot and
scavenge. They will always have at least one combat ship and probably a
cargo hauler to carry the loot. The chance of this happening is low, a 2 on
2 D6 Or possibly a 2/12 Still thinking about it. Pirate captains will be
from the standby players. Again who ever responds first. Ships will never
show up until around turn 4+-.

If this sounds like something people want. I will give it a shot. Obviously
this game revolves around the honor system. Anyone can break these rules
because they cannot be enforced if people want to cheat. I am thinking they
wont.

I will just be moderating. I will probably be the Orion from time to time.
I also will be available if no one else is to run a battle fleet for
someone. My main objective here though is to actually run a game and be
sure I have how down pat.

Should we need more time. We can extend it. But the time aspect is a
guideline, not a rule set in stone. But I want fast turns from players who
want to play so stay on top of this people. If you have a vacation
scheduled...do not enter this.

The following races are available.

Federation        Klingon
Kzinti                Romulan
Gorn                 Lyran

This is shown like this because one side fights the other side with one
border for each of the opposing 3 races. should a random border be
generated though. It can be any race even your sides. For what ever reason
they ticked you off.

I have discussed this with some people who said they would be interested.
So...let me know your preference for race. And we will go on a first come
first serve basis. Hope this is different enough to be fun lol. But
remember it is short...and should be fast...and is really...just a test of
your emergency moderator. Mistakes made while you wait.
