#183 Cargo Tug - The Klingon convoy, helped by Klingon habit of sticking on disruptors on anything that will fly including noncombat tugs, defended itself from a quick 2 turn Hydran battle pass. The first exchange of fire kicked in the Hunter's #2 shield at the cost of sandpaper hellbore damage to the tug. 14 drones from ships and scatterpacks pushed the Hydrans away but ships and fighters became separated allowing 8 disruptors to remove the fighters from the battle.
Tactical observations:
- Tugs are tough. Should we be using war cruiser based tugs in early years to give the defender less advantage? Klingon Transport tugs have 2 disr and 2 drone racks though limited drone control and special firing restrictions.
- Eight disruptors averages 16 points at 15 which is just enough to do an internal or two on a frigate and disrupt maneuvering. 12 disruptors averages 24 which does it to a DD. Maybe keep the little guys erratic, ECM droned or something similar during approach when there is a fleet battle of 3 cruisers or more. 4 cruisers (16 disr) and it's happening to cruisers...
The Barbarians at the Gate have finished their turns and are ready to advance.
