The campaign is using 
<http://sfbdrama.mattnet.org/docs/rules.html#attrition%20units> the 
"Flexible Carrier Escorts" rule of (S8.315). Thus, anything that is a 
true carrier <http://sfb.mattnet.org/carrier.html> *must* have escorts 
and they must be in accordance with (S8.315). Thus, an SRV (as a 
classification - there may be exceptions) requires escorts. This is true 
for Police Carriers (PVs), Aux Carriers (if they were allowed in the 
campaign), Space Control Ships, and the more typical CVs. The only case 
where a presumed carrier does not need escorts is "Fast" carriers 
working alone (S8.316).
